Thanksgiving and Our Busy Lives

*BEWARE this will probably be a long post!* The past month has been crazy busy for us! Tyler's been working crazy hours at work, I've been trying to get in all my doctor's appointments before the end of the year, and of course the kids are keeping us VERY busy and sleep deprived. We had a great Thanksgiving at our friends the Wilsons' home and were joined there by our other friends the Wheelers. We ate yummy food, enjoyed each other's company, and watched the kids run around. We're so grateful for good friends up here when family is so far away!

Carter is growing like crazy. He had his 18 month appointment and is in the 90th percentile for height! The doctor said he's well on his way to being a good 6'5" or so. He's attempting to speak more and got "turkey" down really well over Thanksgiving. In fact, he refuses to call chicken anything but turkey now. Oh well. He's into everything, especially all Landon's baby gear as you'll see in the pictures below. He's also constantly figuring out ways around gates and everything else that's baby-proofed, much to my dismay. He also started nursery this month and loves it! He got rave reviews by the nursery leaders and is much happier playing with other kids and toys than sitting in relief society with me!

If Carter's growing fast, Landon is speeding by! At 2 1/2 months, he's HUGE now!! He's right around 12 lbs and has cheeks so chubby they sit directly on his chest. He's such a content, happy baby and is, thankfully, super easy! He's reaching all his milestones, rolling over at 6 weeks and smiling at 7 weeks. He and Carter love each other so much! Carter is constantly giving him hugs and kisses, helping burp him, wanting to hold him, and getting up in his face saying, "hi hi hi". Landon loves it, too! He smiles really big at his brother and doesn't mind that he's a little rough. In fact, once Carter got in his face with his "hi hi hi" 's and Landon was just smiling so big...then when Carter walked away he started screaming! I hope they'll be this close growing up. They're such great kids! Now if only Landon could sleep more at night we'd be set!

One anecdote to share: About a week ago we had a huge windstorm here. Both boys had really bad colds, and Carter's had turned into croup again. The power went out in the middle of the night and it was freezing! Carter woke up screaming and panicky because it was so dark and cold and he could hardly breathe, so we brought him into bed with us for the 1st time. He actually did really well but we didn't get much sleep...I didn't get any! It was nice to have him want to cuddle with us but he was so sweaty and hogged the bed really badly...plus Landon was up every 2 hours to eat. It was a horrible night and we're not going to repeat that anytime soon! It's experiences like this that make me realize that yes, I'm officially a parent.

Other recent news: Tyler recently got released from his calling as Young Men's leader. It's nice to have him around on Sunday mornings and would be nice to seem him at home more often if his hectic work schedule didn't cancel that out. We also recently found a new place to live! We'll be moving up to a 3 bedroom duplex in Lynnwood the middle of next month. We're excited to have a garage, a yard, and only share one wall with our neighbors. It will be really good for our family but we'll miss our friends in Fairwood so much! The commute will be about the same as it is from here, just in the opposite direction. We're dreading packing and moving, but excited to be in a bigger space for the boys.

I'll do another post later this week about Christmas, but for now here's the pictures from the last month or so.

My 2 sweet boys

Carter's become more attached to his blankets lately...this is his "Linus" picture

Landon in the MOBY. Some days it's the only way I can chase Carter around.

Despite his plethora of toys, Carter's favorite things are usually boxes

Carter all ready to go out in the snow!

Carter's constantly getting into Landon's stuff!

I know this looks sad but it was Landon rolling over for the 1st time! He was so mad being on his belly that he just flipped himself over...and then I made him do it again to be sure it wasn't a fluke ;)

Carter is really into taking his clothes off. The other night he was crying around 11pm and when I went into his room he was completely naked! PJ's off, diaper off, and pee ALL over the bed. I should be grateful it wasn't poop, I know, but it was still awful. He was freezing and miserable. We are now making good use of onesies under the pajamas and safety pins!

One arm out the top, one arm out the bottom

Landon is always blowing spit bubbles

This is how Carter sleeps...with his blanket completely wrapped around his head!

Carter meeting Santa at the ward Christmas party. He wasn't a big fan.

Carter's first day of nursery! I was more nervous than he was...I couldn't believe how big my little boy was and I kept having to keep from crying!

Carter is CONSTANTLY trying to sit in Landon's bouncer even though we keep telling him he's too big!

I told you he likes Landon's gear!

Tummy time

Look at those big cheeks!

You all probably think I'm horrible for posting crying pictures but it happens so rarely that it's sometimes funny when he gets really dramatic! I know, I'm a horrible mother.

Trying to catch a smile

2 months old!

See that dimple? How'd I get 2 boys with dimples??
