The Craziness That is Our Lives

May has been one of the busiest months to date! Tyler's been having to work crazy hours (still...and they're getting worse) and I've been busy with scouts, book clubs, work, kids, and trying to have a social life! Towards the beginning of the month I went shopping with a couple of friends...they needed "skinny" clothes and I needed "fat" clothes, and despite the difference between the two, it was a great support system and we had a blast! It's the first time I've really been shopping for myself in years (sad I know!) which is why it deserves an honorable mention in the blog ;)

Mother's day was nice...but would have been nicer if I wasn't sick and had to give a talk! Both Tyler and I spoke in church that day and the only good thing about that is that hopefully we won't have to again for a while! Tyler made me my favorite dinner, though, and Carter did a little project for me in nursery that I will treasure forever. The following week I went to my aunt's and, with her help, re-learned to sew! I haven't used a sewing machine since junior high, but she helped teach me the basics so I could sew on both mine and Tyler's patches onto our scout shirts. I was pretty proud of myself! It was a lot of fun and one day when I actually have free time (what's that??) I want to take some sewing classes and really get into it. Who would have ever thought I'd be interested in something so domestic???

My calling has been...the craziest experience of my life. I'm learning that being a Cubmaster comes with all sorts of drama! I hate conflict and hope I can be a mediator between people, but who knew committee meetings could be so charged up? Luckily, I had my Pack Meeting last week and now IT'S OVER! I swore I wouldn't think about any more scout stuff for 2 full weeks because man was that stressful! Luckily it went really well. The theme was Health & Fitness and we had a guy come with his sons all dressed up in their Tae Kwon Do garb and taught the kids a bunch of stuff. The boys who were moving up in ranks even got to break boards! I had lots of positive comments afterwards about the meeting, so I guess on one realized the parts where I messed up! It's good to get the first one behind me and hopefully I'll keep getting better and learning more. This has definitely been the most time-intensive, dramatic, hard, and crazy calling I've ever had, but I feel like I'm learning and growing as a person because of it.

This weekend we went garage saling! I haven't been to a garage sale since I was a kid and it was FUN!! We seriously made out! (no, not that kind of making out...) We bought a lawnmower since our landlord has been neglecting our lawn and the grass was about 3 feet high. We also bought some things for Carter's birthday which I would never have been able to get at a store because they're so expensive, and they all are in great shape! Tyler also surprised me that morning and had completely cleaned our master bathroom! This is a HUGE deal because our bathroom was filthy when we moved in (apparently the landlord didn't care about clean bathrooms either!) and I really wanted to do a major all-day cleaning before we used it much, but I just haven't had time. So my husband was amazing and scrubbed that bathroom top to bottom, so we can finally utilize that part of our home! Yippee!!!

Sorry this is so long...but I'm finally caught up! We have several things going on this week (including big boy Carter's 2nd birthday!) so I'll make sure to blog again soon! Enjoy the pictures and videos.

I'm not sure if you can tell but Landon has a black eye! I was at book club and I got this text from Tyler saying that Landon was hurt and that there was blood gushing from his eye!!! But then it said, "he's ok, don't panic, I just freaked out a little bit" (or something to that effect). Apparently Carter was on the changing table and threw one of the bins that holds the diapers and hit Landon who was sitting on the floor. It only did that much damage because it was the corner of the bin that got him. He apparently screamed but got over it really quickly...I think it looked a lot worse than it actually was. I'm glad I wasn't home when it happened!

Whenever I tell Carter to smile for the camera he leans forward, squints his eyes, and smiles. Such a funny kid.

One of the things I love most about Carter is that he thinks I'm HILARIOUS! I can get him laughing sooo hard. It's nice that someone in the world thinks I'm funny :)

Landon is often perched on the dining room table in his Bumbo. Although there is an array of toys around him, he always grabs the things he shouldn't be getting into...like papers, the salt shaker, or, in this instance, the napkin holder. He's very proud of himself.

Carter got a haircut! It was fun to spike it up and give him a little mohawk but it grew out pretty quickly so I can't do that anymore. Isn't it cute, though?? (Also another leaning forward/squinting picture)

I love that kid! He makes me laugh every day.

Landon in the middle of a clean and vacuumed family room! It is NEVER this clutter-free.

Carter likes to take Landon's hand, hold it up to his cheek, and give him loves.

Landon just got his 2 bottom front teeth! Actually, Carter's been teething, too. He got his first 2-year molar. Two teething kids is NOT FUN!!

Another picture where I instructed Carter to smile and ended up with this...

This is one of those cloth bins that is supposed to hold Carter's toys (not Carter himself!)

Notice the slobber all down his onesie...yeah.

Be sure to watch both the videos!
