1st Birthday and Pumpkin Patches

October was a very fun-filled month for us!  The weather stayed pretty nice for a while so we got to do lots of fun things.  First, the boys and I went to a pumpkin patch with our playgroup.  We have a lot of friends and had a blast with them while roaming around.  It was set up really nicely with a lot of things for the kids to do, so we had a blast!!

Carter pumping water for the rubber ducky races

They'd made a bunch of old tires into swings shaped like animals.  Carter got the dog...they were pretty neat looking!

A friend lent me her baby backpack to carry Landon around in.  I didn't think the MOBY would have enough support for the whole day, strollers wouldn't have worked there with the mod, and I loved the backpack!!  Landon had a grand old time riding around.

Carter found a stick that looked like a scythe...appropriate, I guess, for a hay picture.

Riding in the tractor-pulled wagon out to the pumpkin patch

Carter got to pick his own pumpkin.  He wasn't too picky, I think this was the first one he saw that I approved of ;)

 Tractor wheels are big!

On October 12th we got to celebrate Landon's 1st birthday!  That year went by so quickly.  Carter learned to say "Happy Birthday, Nani!" and said it over and over all day long.  He was pretty excited, and Landon had no idea what was going on!

I think Landon wasn't so thrilled with being the center of attention!

We had a little party at home and Landon loved ripping open his presents with a little help from Mom.

I'm pretty sure Carter thought all the toys were for him!

Putting Carter in the laundry basket kept him away from Landon's toys for a few minutes, but then Landon wanted to play in the laundry basket too!

Landon LOVED his new ride-on truck!!  Daddy gave him the first ride.

Carter really wanted a turn but after telling him to push Landon around he had a blast doing that!  It was fun to see them playing together so well.

Landon got a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting!  We went for the tasty cake instead of the pretty cake this year ;)

Landon was very confused about the big pan in front of him, the candle, and all the singing.

Boy that kid loved his cake!!  He's completely opposite of Carter...instead of taking a little taste and being done, Landon dived in!  That cake was gone in about 3 bites and then he was licking the plate!  It was quite fun and quite the mess!

That is one happy birthday boy!

The weekend after Landon's birthday, Tyler's sister Jamie and her kids came and hung out with us for a few days.  We decided to go to another pumpkin patch, this one called "Bob's Corn" (despite the name, it did have pumpkins!)  This area has a ton of good pumpkin patches!  It was a lot of fun and the kids all had a blast.

There was a hot air balloon that came and landed in the field next to where we were at.  It was a lot closer than it looks.  It was really cool!

We tried really hard to get a good photo op!

At least someone will pose cutely for pictures!

Again, we tried hard for a good picture but Carter was just done by that point!

 A ride in the wheelbarrow

They made this really cool swing from a tire.  It went really high!
