Carter's Pediatric Oncology Appointment and a Weekend in San Luis

Sorry to those of you who have been patiently waiting for news!  We had Carter's pediatric oncology appointment last Wednesday but have been extremely busy since then!  We ended up going through UCSF instead of Stanford since that is who we've been working with about the genetic testing, so Carter was able to be seen by a pediatric oncologist there.  They took a second look at his ultrasound and said that they think the lump looks benign.  Yay!  They said it could be a cyst or possibly a hemangioma (if you've seen the red spot on Carter's stomach, it's that same thing, just underneath the skin...or click on the word and it'll transport you to wikipedia's definition).  The plan of action now is to wait for the genetic testing results to come back and otherwise we'll do another ultrasound in a few weeks to make sure it isn't growing or anything.  They can't tell us what it is for sure without doing a biopsy, and we don't want to get too happy about it just in case, but we're cautiously optimistic about the whole thing :)

We spent this last weekend on a little last minute trip down to San Luis Obispo to see Tyler's family.  His grandfather's health isn't doing too well and we wanted to see him and spend time with everyone else.  Although I failed to take any pictures while we were there, we had a good time!  The boys got to see 2 of their 3 sets of great-grandparents, their Grandma Kim and Grandpa Dan, and their Aunt Tani, Uncle Milan, and cousin Milla.  Carter had a blast playing with Milla since they're close to the same age!  They loved running around and giving each other hugs.  We also got to go to the beach and to Avila Valley Barn where the boys got to feed a bunch of barn animals lettuce and eat ice cream.  It was a nice weekend.

Here are a few recent pictures of around the house:

Carter, there's a basket on your head!
 Landon saying, "Hi!"
Carter and Landon both helped clean the dining room floor in preparation for me hosting Book Club that night.

I love my kids a little more when they're sleeping :)

  1. Oh yay! That is GREAT news. Take all the happy news you can and rejoice in it. You know how I feel about doctors and their scares so I won't get into that... but I am SUPER DUPER happy that you have a littel relief for now. :) I miss you and your family. Landon is SOOO big. It makes me sad to see everyone growing up. Did I mention that I miss you? I really think it would be a blast to come visit you and have a REAL girls weekend!
